Of two minds

as, Blue over at the Gimp Parade, The Ragged Edge, and others have said...sitting by the scientific "phone" every date night and waiting for a 'cure' for anything gets in the way of living, IMO...

I oppose that. After a year and a half of reading and understanding why so many say they are fine just as they are, there is an important reason for landing on that side of the page.

It endorses our value *as persons first* to instead seek inclusion in work, play, all aspects of life *as is.*

But I also have conditions that I cannot in good conscience label as "good"

And if there are candidates out there this election season who not only oppose scientific intervention to improve or eliminate conditions that an individual might not have the wish to label as "just fine," but opposes science itself....not only the science that works on "cures" but the same type of science is also needed to back up and create many techie things that help level the playing field for some with impairments some of the time...

Well then, I oppose those candidates too.

as here in missouri where a famous seeker for cures

notes that if he was in missouri, research to ameliorate the effects of his impairment would not be something he could 'take or leave' if he chose to....the anti science crowd would forbid certain avenues of progress...

The ad irritates me because it's framed as looking for some "tragedy sympathy" to get votes....but votes are sorely needed for several reasons so I suppose I'll handle my irritation and hope that pro intellect, pro science, pro research voters turn out...
