The Necessity of being Uppity

To able men,

To able women,

To able feminists,

To able conservatives,

To able liberals and/or progressives.

I've just finished reading this link to Blue

And, as usual I'm not going to be as civil as Blue.

This has now gone past the original issue. I'm not speaking about the issue now, I'm speaking of the unbelieveably systemic fear of us and hatred of us and labeling of us and arrogance towards us that this has opened up.

Many out there are telling disabled people that they aren't permitted to weigh in on certain issues.

Their opinions are not only not needed, but are actively discouraged by epithets like "self-righteous prick."

I've known a number of self-righteous pricks. Made the mistake of dating one.

there isn't a *self righteous prick* among any of the disabled bloggers I read.

David, at Growing up with a Disability is not some evil master of a disabled agenda.

I don't know if he's had time to bone up on all the basics for that, him being twenty one and all.

If a particular feminists' definition of women, either by subtext or direct exclusion, doesn't include "disabled women" in it because of some bizzare belief that because we'd rather not be at the mercy of able opinion *alone* as to what's best for us, that makes us 'anti science.'

Then, I don't care how many 'feminist credenitials' they've got, *their definition is and has been incomplete and flawed.*

The able seem *irritated* that we've turned up on the blogs, in the streets, in the news.

Um, sorry, I didn't see the "Inaccessible on Purpose, so stay home!" sign on the Internet.

Silly me, I should have realized that sign is for both comedy clubs *and* the Internet.

I know the only paperwork we're competent to sign is a living will.

I know we're only fit to *use* us as "inspiration" but once we actually start communicating, they get nervous.

They don't want to question their own faith in medicine, so they deride our skepticism over some doctors actions.

We're here. We write. We comprehend. We opine.

Get used to it.

See, I always expected the righties to use us as part of their Duty to Give Birth Stuff, telethons, snowflake babies, 'inspiration' and all...but it's the leftie dismisiveness particularly on Pandagon, that seems to read to me..."Once you have that disability and might need care, or you've had it all your life and need care, you stop being/never are a woman, and instead are a tool to opress caregivers who are mostly women..."

Um, what?

Huh?

So I was also saying, "Shit!," but then followed by "Do they actually *believe* the stuff they're spewing or is there something in the drinking water...?"
